Venezuela begins its participation in the Kickboxing World Cup

The Venezuelan kickboxing delegation begins its participation in the WAKO Kickboxing World Cup, which will take place from Thursday to May 17 in the city of Antalya, Turkey.

The event is part of the preparation for the qualification cycle on the American continent for the World Combat Games 2027, in addition to giving valuable points for the international ranking and guaranteeing a volume of combat and competitive touch.

In addition, the delegation is working to ensure representation of the development categories for the debut of kickboxing at the III Bolivarian Youth Sports Games Caracas 2026.

The delegation is led by Joel Vásquez in the 71 kg division of K1, silver medalist of the Lima Ayacucho Bolivarian Games and with extensive international experience.

Raúl García, Pan-American champion of the 2026 Brazil Cup, will also compete in the 74 kg category of individual point fights, while in pairs he will compete with Guillermo Cobo (63 kg), bronze in the Pan-American Guatemala 2025.

To close the list, in -63.5 kg of low kick, Jhosua Rangel, champion of the Pan-American Cadet Championship of Guatemala 2025, will see action

The competition contemplates that the elimination phase will take place from May 14 to 16, while the definition by the medals is scheduled for Sunday the 17th.
