Through a statement, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expressed its repudiation of the unfounded statements made by the President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, Irfaan Ali, about the alleged violation of its maritime space to generate conflict in the region.

“He blatantly lies by stating that units of the Venezuelan Bolivarian Navy are violating Guyana's maritime territory, hiding that these waters are not part of Guyanese territory, since it is a maritime zone pending delimitation in accordance with International Law (...) This new provocation seeks to escalate and disrupt our region as a zone of peace, and responds to the warrior interests of ExxonMobil, with the public support of pathetic figures such as Luis Almagro and Iván Duque,” said the statement published by the Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, through her Telegram channel.

In this regard, Venezuela demanded that Guyana stop evading the commitments established in the Geneva Agreement; and reaffirmed its “unwavering commitment to the defense of its historical and legal rights over Essequiba Guiana, in the protection of its territorial integrity”.

In addition, in the face of the threats of conflict launched by the Caribbean Zelensky, "Venezuela will immediately request the convening of the Argyle Mechanism, an instance that represents the spirit of the Geneva Agreement as a space for the peaceful resolution of the dispute”.
