Venezuela congratulated Trinidad and Tobago's election day

Through an Official Communiqué, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela celebrated the election day held last April 28 in Trinidad and Tobago.
In the letter, the nation congratulated Kamla Persad-Bissessar, who will assume the position of Prime Minister for the Congress of National Unity party.

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela congratulates the brotherly people of Trinidad and Tobago on the election day held on April 28, which reaffirms their firm commitment to democracy. In that contest, the Congress of National Unity (UNC) party won. It also extends its sincerest congratulations to the leader of that organization, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, who will assume the position of Prime Minister, wishing her every success in this new phase at the head of the Government.
During his previous term of office, our nations consolidated solid bonds of cooperation and understanding, based on mutual respect and a common interest in the well-being of our peoples. This positive experience encourages our willingness to continue strengthening a strategic relationship in key areas such as security, the economy and regional integration.
Venezuela reaffirms its commitment to the continuity of joint projects, especially in the area of energy security, ensuring a reliable supply of gas for Trinidad and Tobago, which will contribute to the sustained development of that country and of the entire Caribbean region.
Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago share historical, geographical and cultural ties that unite us in the heart of the Caribbean. Aware of the challenges facing our region, we reaffirm the will to advance a common agenda of cooperation that responds to the aspirations of our peoples and promotes peace, development and the sovereignty of our nations.
