Venezuela congratulates the Russian Government for commemorating Victory Day against Fascism

Through an official statement, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela commemorated the Day of Victory against Fascism and congratulated the Governments of Russia, Belarus, Soviet peoples and allied troops who defeated Nazism and saved humanity from one of the most devastating tragedies in history.

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela commemorates Victory Day against Fascism on May 9 and congratulates the peoples and governments of Russia, Belarus, as well as all the Soviet peoples and allied troops who joined the effort against fascism with heroism, sacrifice and a deep love for the country, defeated Nazism and saved humanity from one of the most devastating tragedies in history.

The Bolivarian Government pays tribute to the millions of men and women who gave their lives in defense of peace, freedom and human dignity, staging an extraordinary feat that lives on in the memory of the peoples of the world.

The takeover of Berlin by the Red Army and the victory of 1945 represent the triumph of peoples' resistance to hatred, extermination and barbarism. Today, this memory calls on humanity to stand firm against supremacist ideologies, practices of intolerance and expressions of racial or political hatred.

Venezuela reaffirms its solidarity and brotherhood with the peoples who made that historic victory possible, as well as its permanent commitment to peace, the self-determination of peoples and the construction of a multicentric and multipolar world.
