Venezuela draws 3-3 with Uruguay in South American futsal

The Venezuelan men's national team drew 3-3 with Uruguay in their debut in the Conmebol South American Under-20 Futsal Tournament 2026, played this Saturday at the Bolivarian Domo in Barquisimeto.

Alexander Rojas opened the scoring in the 5th minute of the first half with a cross shot. Uruguay equalized at the start of the second half with a goal scored by Rodrigo Maciel, enabled by captain Román Cedres. Venezuelan captain Aaron Ruiz Pineda placed second for Venezuela in the 11th minute with a left-handed shot, and José Ledezma took advantage of numerical superiority after the double yellow expulsion of an Uruguayan player to place third with a strong shot, according to a press release from VTV.

The Charrúa comeback came in the final minutes. Faustino Osores scored a header goal with two minutes left before closing, and the same player sealed the tie with 20 seconds left with a point-blank shot that Venezuelan goalkeeper Carlos Rojas couldn't stop.

Venezuela will continue its participation in Group A this Sunday against Bolivia, while Uruguay will face Colombia.
