With the firm intention of promoting scientific innovation and technological sovereignty, a delegation of researchers from the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela successfully participated in the International Congress on Rare Metals, Materials and New Technologies (RAREMET 2026), held in the spaces of the Russian Technological University (RTU MIREA) in the city of Moscow.
The event, considered one of the main platforms in the Eurasian region for the study of advanced materials, brought together more than 750 specialists and researchers from 20 countries.
The national representation consisted of Víctor Torres, head of the Non-Destructive Testing, Failure Analysis and Corrosion Unit of the “Institute of Engineering for Research and Technological Development” Foundation; Gabriela Farías Suárez, of the same foundation; and Pedro Silva, head of the Center for Materials Engineering and Nanotechnology of the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (IVIC).
The delegation also had the diplomatic support and support of the Venezuelan Embassy in Moscow, through its Science, Technology and Information Technology section.
During the working days, the scientific delegation shared the results of their recent research. On behalf of the IVIC, Silva presented a specialized study on magnetism induced in ceramic materials (barium zirconate perovskites), an analysis that combines advanced synthesis and characterization of ceramic materials using Electronic Paramagnetic Resonance, a work that reflects Venezuela's capacity to contribute to the research of magnetic materials for energy and electronic applications.
Also, during the closing session called “The New Geography of Rare and Rare Earth Metals: Technological Sovereignty, Global Value Chains and the Sixth Technological Paradigm”, the spokespersons of the Engineering Institute, Víctor Torres and Gabriela Farías, presented Venezuela's strategic vision in this fundamental sector, highlighting the potential in the management of critical mineral resources and its objective to advance the entire production chain, from exploration to generation of materials with high added value.
Venezuela's successful presence in RAREMET 2026 reaffirms the Bolivarian Government's commitment to technological innovation and the strengthening of its capacity in the field of rare metals. This space served to strengthen institutional contacts, explore new areas of cooperation and promote the exchange of knowledge with leading corporations in the Eurasian territory.
