Venezuela expresses its appreciation to the Government of Mexico, under the leadership of President Claudia Sheinbaum, for its decisive anti-interventionist stance in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, on his account on the social network Telegram, announced this recognition on behalf of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.
In his message, Gil stressed that “his firm defense of sovereignty in our region is fundamental in the face of current threats from the United States, which jeopardize the peace of our Latin American and Caribbean community.”
The Venezuelan foreign minister was referring to the statements of the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, who during her morning conference, this Tuesday, August 26, ratified her country's historic position against all forms of foreign intervention in Venezuela.
The president stressed that Mexican foreign policy is governed by the constitutional principle of non-intervention and the defense of the self-determination of peoples, and she assured that this will always be the line of her Government.
“We will never be in favor of the intervention of a foreign government in a sovereign country. And I repeat, it's not even just out of his own conviction, but that should be the position of any president of Mexico, because it's in the Constitution,” he stressed.
