The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela issued a travel alert for all its citizens on Tuesday and advised them against moving to the United States (USA); it also urged Venezuelan residents to leave the North American country.

Venezuela issues a Travel Alert for all Venezuelan citizens, advising against any travel to the United States of America. We also urge Venezuelan citizens who currently reside in U.S. territory to consider leaving that country,” said Foreign Minister Yván Gil, through his social networks.

The diplomat explained that “this alert is issued because today, Venezuelans in the United States are victims of a systematic pattern of violations of their human rights, being arbitrarily detained, separated from their families, and transferred to concentration camps in third countries, which constitutes an unacceptable practice that recalls the worst chapters of contemporary history.”

He rejected “the use of migratory blackmail and the criminalization of our kindness, in the cruelest xenophobic operation known in our continent, promoted by factors of the Venezuelan and North American extreme right.”
