Venezuela kicks off its participation in the fifth edition of the BRICS 2024 Games with a bronze medal

Weightlifter Victoria Tovar won the bronze medal in the 49-kilogram division to bring Venezuela's first medal to the 2024 BRICS Games.
Tovar had an outstanding performance, after lifting a total of 162 kilograms.
On Thursday, 11 Venezuelan athletes saw action in the disciplines of synchronized swimming, sambo, wushu, weightlifting and table tennis.
For her part, Roselin Uzcátegui (59 kg) was in fourth place. Meanwhile , Endy Rivas took fifth place in the 73 kg category.
The Venezuelan delegation is made up of 26 male athletes, 16 female athletes and 26 members of the multidisciplinary team. The athletes will represent Venezuela in 12 sports disciplines, including chess, boxing, phygital soccer, karate do, weightlifting, sambo, table tennis and wushu.
