On behalf of the Group of Friends of the Charter of the United Nations (UN), during the debate on the Palestinian situation, Venezuela demanded an immediate ceasefire in Gaza by Israel and its allies.

The Assembly has taken the overwhelming decision to put an end to the massacre against the Palestinian people, published the Ambassador Permanent Representative of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the UN, Samuel Moncada, through a video posted on his account on the social network X.

He stressed that more than two months have passed since the beginning of this tragic spiral of violence and destruction, which has resulted in the death of thousands of innocent civilians, including women, boys and girls; as well as humanitarian and UN personnel. In addition, thousands of homes in the Gaza Strip have been affected.

He highlighted that, during these two months, the Palestinian civilian population in the Gaza Strip has experienced a real hell, as described by the UN Secretary General, António Guterres.

He also mentioned that today, no place is safe for civilians in Gaza, because they continue to be indiscriminately bombed from the air, sea and land by Israeli military forces. Even refugee camps housing more than 1.3 million Palestinian civilians have been the target of repeated attacks.

He reported that the commissioner general of the United Nations Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Middle East (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, warned that the United Nations flag no longer offers protection to civilians in Gaza, as evidenced by facts and figures.

He also argued that schools and hospitals have also been constantly attacked. The lives of babies, children, women, men, the elderly, sick and injured are in danger. International humanitarian law has been completely ignored.
