In order to design a strategic roadmap to advance the execution of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Plan in the country, the Minister of Popular Power for Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez, led a working group with the management teams of the Venezuelan National Anonymous Telephone Company (CANTV) and Movilnet.

During the day, Minister Jiménez highlighted that this initiative responds to long-term sovereign planning, focused on national welfare.

“A plan with a vision of the future and prosperity for Venezuela, as guided by the head of state, Nicolás Maduro and the president in charge, Delcy Rodríguez,” he said.

In his speech, he emphasized that artificial intelligence is a key tool for human and productive development. In that regard, he emphasized the relevance of this technology on the international stage.

“AI as a general-purpose geopolitical technology needs to be aligned with human development purposes,” he said.

In the same way, he addressed the challenges posed by the management of these new technologies, in addition to stressing that the governance of AI requires innovative approaches, which “include global, national ethical principles and specific sectoral landings”.

He pointed out that the regulation of AI in this post-industrial phase requires the creation of new specialized agencies, without neglecting traditional regulations that protect critical areas.

“The post-industrial regulation of AI (with new specialized agencies) coexists with the need for industrial regulation (which deploys capacities in specific sectors that already exist, such as health, education, finance, among others),” he concluded.
