Venezuela presents advances in food security during Nutrition Week in Rome

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is actively participating
in the Nutrition Week in Rome 2026 (Rome Nutrition Week — RNW26), a key multilateral
space for the exchange of experiences, innovation and
transformation of sustainable agri-food systems.
The event is held from May 25 to 28 at the headquarters of the United Nations Food and Agriculture
Organization
(FAO), bringing together governments, academies and experts to promote actions that
strengthen global food security.
The Venezuelan delegation is made up of authorities from the
Ministry of People's Power for Food (MINPPAL) and the
National Institute of Nutrition (INN). Among the representatives are Juan Carlos
Piñero Ysea, Deputy Minister of Business and Services of the MINPPAL; Oswaldo Elbano
Suárez Correa, Director of International Affairs of the MINPPAL ; Ever Onaiver
Gutiérrez Peña, Deputy Technical Director of the INN; Denny Yerly Molina Garabito, Director of Education of the INN; and Deputy José Diego Castillo Centeno,
president
of SABILVEN, who share national experiences related to
public policies, food education, nutritional innovation and community strengthening.
The delegation is accompanied by Ambassador
Marilyn Di Luca Santaella, permanent representative to the UN in Rome. Their
participation reinforces the regional coordination agenda of the
Latin American and Caribbean Group (GRULAC), whose Pro Tempore Presidency is currently held by Venezuela.
Innovation and ancient knowledge
During the meeting, Venezuela presents its advances and public
policies distributed in the following strategic axes:
biodiversity, culture and ancestral foods;
sustainable agri-food systems and food innovation; community participation and the role of rural
women and fishermen, and South-South Cooperation and strategies for nutritional strengthening.
On Monday, as part of the
“Nutrition Evidence and Innovation for Shaping Agrifood Systems
Transformation” block, the Venezuelan technical team participates in international cooperation tables.
In addition, an ancient
Amazonian culinary demonstration will be presented to highlight the nutritional and cultural value of the country's territorial
knowledge.
With this participation, aligned with the Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda, Venezuela ratifies its
commitment to Bolivarian Peace Diplomacy, promoting multilateralism, solidarity
cooperation and the construction of more
sustainable, inclusive and resilient food systems for the peoples of the world.
