Venezuela proposes a sovereign and sustainable ecological model at COP30

Since the United Nations Conference on
Climate Change (COP30), which is taking place in Brazil, the Minister of Popular Power
for Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván Gil, reported
this Thursday that the country will present its advances in environmental and
climate matters, focusing on public policies for reforestation,
sustainable management of hydrographic basins and preservation of biodiversity with an emphasis on
Amazon Basin.
During this important international meeting,
Foreign Minister Gil stressed that Venezuela will present its initiatives in
territorial planning and regulations on climate crisis, aimed at promoting a sustainable development
model that prioritizes the well-being of peoples and the protection of ecosystems.
For the minister, climate change hits the countries of the Global South the hardest
, and Venezuela raises its voice for
climate justice, solidarity cooperation and respect for the sovereignty of nations.
With her participation in the COP30, which will end on
November 21 in Belém, in the Brazilian Amazon, Venezuela, whose delegation also
includes the ministers of Popular Power for Ecosocialism, Ricardo
Molina, and Indigenous Peoples, Clara Vidal, confirms her commitment to the defense
of Mother Earth, multilateralism and joint solutions to challenges
environmental factors that threaten the future of the planet.
On this first day, the Venezuelan diplomat greeted
-among other relevant figures- his Brazilian counterpart, Mauro Viera; the President of the Republic of Colombia, Gustavo Petro; the
President of the Republic of Mozambique, Daniel Chapo; the
Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda,
Gaston Browne, and the president of the New Development Bank (NDB) of the BRICS, Dilma Rousseff.
