At the working breakfast of Ibero-American Ministers of Foreign Affairs held this Thursday in New York, on the sidelines of the 81st session of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), the Deputy Minister for Multilateral Affairs of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Joaquín Pérez Ay, ratified his nation's commitment to the Ibero-American Conference, conceived as a plural space for dialogue, in which it believes that progress must be made towards the lifting of unilateral coercive measures against Venezuela, as a gesture of good faith for economic cooperation.

Under this premise, he said that the value of the Community should not be measured only by shared history, but also by “what we are capable of building together”.

Not in vain, continued the diplomat, Venezuela is committed to a plural Ibero-America, capable of dialogue based on its differences, building trust and transforming its coincidences into concrete cooperation; a Community that converts solidarity into capacities and opportunities for the development of peoples.

Pérez Aythanked the international solidarity received after the earthquakes of last June 24, which recalled the value of a community built on deep historical and cultural ties, stressing the importance of strengthening prevention and early warning systems in the area of civil protection in the face of the upcoming Madrid Summit.

In addition, he valued the efforts aimed at strengthening the links of the Ibero-American Community with the Association of Caribbean States (AEC), Angola, India and Türkiye, while betting on cooperation that leaves established capacities for technological development, innovation and the reduction of inequalities, taking into account digital transformation and artificial intelligence.
