On the occasion of the celebration of Africa Day, the permanent representative of Venezuela in The Hague, Ambassador Hector Constant-Rosales, participated in a reception organized by the South African ambassador, Vusi Mandosela, in his capacity as dean of the African diplomatic corps accredited to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, held on May 27 in the Dutch city of Wassenaar.

The meeting, sponsored by the African Union (AU), brought together diplomats accredited in the Netherlands and before international organizations and tribunals based in that country, both from Africa and from all regions of the world, as well as senior Dutch and multilateral authorities, representing an opportunity to reiterate the ties of brotherhood between Venezuela and Mother Africa.

The AU declared 2026 as the year to “Ensure the sustainable availability of water and safe sanitation systems to achieve the objectives of Agenda 2063”, which places vital liquid and sanitation in the category of continental political priority, recognizing them as catalysts for economic transformation, climate resilience, public health, food security and regional stability.

Under the slogan “Venezuela and Africa: A Single Rhythm of Peace and Unity”, on Wednesday, May 27, the VIII Cultural Festival with the Peoples of Africa was held, at which the Minister of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil Pinto, ratified his commitment to the agenda of political, economic and academic cooperation with the mother continent.

Since 2025, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has held the status of Observer to the African Union and has established diplomatic relations with its 55 member States.
