Venezuela reiterated its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Suriname

Regarding the diplomat's visit to participate in the 50th anniversary of Suriname's independence, the foreign minister, Yván Gil Pinto, held a meeting with the President of the Republic of Suriname, Jennifer Simons.

On his Telegram channel, Gil specified that during the meeting he extended “the congratulations of President Nicolás Maduro on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Suriname's independence, celebrated on November 25, 1975” and reiterated the Venezuelan commitment to strengthening bilateral relations in preparation for the next joint commission to be held in Paramaribo.

He also thanked the head of state for her gratitude for “the expressions of solidarity with the Venezuelan people and for supporting the efforts of President Maduro in the defense of peace and sovereignty.”

Both authorities analyzed the regional situation and reiterated their joint position “in rejection of the threats and military actions of the United States Government in the Caribbean, which seek to destabilize the peace of our peoples.”
