This Sunday, March 16, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela categorically rejected, through a statement, the application of the Foreign Enemy Act of 1798 by the United States Government, since it seeks to infamously and unjustly criminalize Venezuelan migration, in an act that evokes the darkest episodes in human history.

The Foreign Enemy Act of 1798, on which this presidential order is based , is an anachronistic law that not only violates fundamental and existing laws of the United States of America, but also violates the international legal system in the field of Human Rights,” says the document shared by the Chancellor of the Republic, Yván Gil, through his Telegram channel.

For this reason, the text expresses Venezuela's repudiation of the persecution against our compatriots and in the face of this new maneuver that violates human rights, “it calls for national unity, the infinite spirit of solidarity of our people, and the development of all mechanisms of active protest in the diplomatic, legal and political spheres, in defense of our migrants and their families who live together in our country”.
