Venezuela rejects illegal license granted by Guyana to oil companies

In a statement, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela strongly rejected the illegal oil production license granted by the Government of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana to oil companies in the Stabroek Block, which seeks to dispose of energy resources in undelimited maritime areas.

In this regard, in the text, Venezuela denounced that “the sequence of illegitimate acts perpetrated by Guyana, radically violating international law, through a chain of abuses and transgressions that are outside international legality and compliance with its established commitments.”

In addition, he reaffirmed that Guyana does not have sovereign rights over the above-mentioned marine areas, so that any action within these limits contravenes the regulations and agreements established by international law.
