Venezuela defeated Puerto Rico 9-0 on Thursday, in the third and penultimate game of the robust game of the Kids La Guaira 2025 Caribbean Series.
With the victory, the Venezuelan representation improved their record to 3-0 and secured a place in the semifinals of the tournament, which takes place at the Jorge Luis García Carneiro Stadium, in Macuto.
“The first objective was achieved. From now on, we have to face the games with intelligence so as not to risk the boys for what is coming,” said manager Ernesto Telles, after the commitment. “Step by step, things have been coming together.”
Jaikervic García shone from the mound when he threw 4.1 innings in white, with four strikeouts and only one hit allowed, which was in the last inning of his work, to claim the victory. Marco Guevara, in turn, released the last episode and two thirds.
“I felt a little nervous, but as I got out the innings, it went wrong,” described right-hander Garcia. “The manager told me to throw through the strike zone and attack the batters. I tried to follow the plan.”
