Venezuela stands in solidarity with Cuba in the face of a new attack by the United States, “a country with a tarnished record”

The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejected this Tuesday the new aggression of the United States (USA) against Cuba, by including the Caribbean nation in an arbitrary list of countries that supposedly “do not cooperate fully against terrorism”.

In a statement, released by Foreign Minister Yván Gil, the Bolivarian Government expressed solidarity with the West Indian Island and its people, and warned “that this maneuver only confirms the moral and political exhaustion of an international political class that, unable to subdue free peoples, resorts to the record of lies, criminalization and collective punishment”.

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela absolutely rejects the inclusion of the Republic of Cuba in the arbitrary list drawn up by the United States government, which seeks to qualify countries that supposedly “do not cooperate fully against terrorism”.

This new attack is not due to security reasons or verifiable facts. It is a political decision, motivated by the desire to punish sovereignty, to pursue the example of dignity of a people that has not surrendered and to unleash new forms of economic and diplomatic suffocation against the Cuban Revolution.

It is unacceptable for a country with a history tainted by wars, covert operations, protection of confessed terrorists and the systematic use of terror as a foreign policy tool, to arrogate to itself the right to identify those who have been direct victims of these practices.

Cuba has resisted a brutal blockade for more than six decades and has responded with solidarity, cooperation and commitment to world peace. His example is uncomfortable precisely because he has not given up.

Venezuela expresses its total solidarity with the Government and the Cuban people, and warns that this maneuver only confirms the moral and political exhaustion of an international political class that, unable to subdue free peoples, resorts to the record of lies, criminalization and collective punishment.
