During his participation in the Summit of the Association of Caribbean States, which is being held in the city of Montería in Colombia, the foreign minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván Gil, called for regional unity to face the challenges of today's world, which he said is under threat.

“Today, when we are subject to different threats from everywhere, ignorance of the international system, the resurgence of phenomena that we thought had disappeared, such as fascism, Nazism, we must close ranks in the Caribbean as a zone of peace, of prosperity, of contribution to the world and to humanity and to work together to consolidate that new just world order that we all need,” he said.

He specified that as part of this process of strengthening unity, Venezuela proposes the creation of “a financial and economic cooperation network that is truly productive, that is effective.”
