The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela will lead the Vice-Presidency for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Intergovernmental Meeting (category II) of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for the approval of the Recommendation on the Ethics of Neurotechnology.
After promoting the inclusion of the rights of people with disabilities, the South American nation will be responsible, together with China, Hungary and Africa, for the consolidation of this ambitious document of four chapters and 160 articles, which covers everything from the definition, scope, values, principles, protection of biocultural diversity to “global and social justice and enjoyment of the benefits of scientific progress and its applications”.
The discussion takes place at the headquarters of UNESCO, in Paris, France, from May 12 to 16, with the participation of four Venezuelan experts online and the permanent delegation in the room, who are under the direction of the Ministry for Science and Technology.
The Venezuelan delegation will work to defend human rights and the accessibility of new technologies and science for life, says UNESCO Venezuela on its official Instagram account.
