The brothers Rubén, Francisco and Jesús Limardo, together with Gabriel Lugo, will defend the national tricolor in the World Cup Challenge Monal sword, which will be held in France from this Saturday 24 to Sunday 25.
This tournament is crucial for the Venezuelan delegation, which seeks to accumulate valuable points in the ranking of the International Fencing Federation (FIE).
Under the direction of the Bolivarian coach, Benry Martínez, the Venezuelan team will compete at the Center Sport, where more than 300 swordsmen will seek to reach the podium. The competition will begin with individual qualifiers, and then give way to team clashes, in which Venezuela will try to demonstrate its quality and competitive level.
Lugo, gold medalist at the 2022 Valledupar Bolivarian Games, will compete in poule 14, while Jesús Limardo will compete in the 17th and Francisco in the 29th, with the aim of moving towards the decisive stages.
For his part, the London 2012 Olympic champion, Rubén Limardo, will start directly on the board of 64 competitors, thanks to his position among the 16 best in the world rankings.
Currently, the Venezuelan team is in seventh place in the world ranking and leads the ranking of the American continent, reaffirming its leadership in the discipline.
