The Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil Pinto, held a telephone contact this Sunday with the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs of the Democratic and People's Republic of Algeria, Ahmed Attaf.
Through his Telegram channel, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister explained that the conversation took place “in the context of preparations for the next meeting of the Joint Cooperation Committee between our countries.”
He noted that, in addition, they discussed “the importance of strengthening the political and economic alliances promoted by President Nicolás Madur and the President of Algeria Abdelmadjid Tebboune, with the objective of moving towards a multipolar world and promoting South-South cooperation”.
The two diplomats met last April at the fourth Diplomatic Forum in Antalya 2025, in Türkiye, where they examined the strategic relationship they share as member countries of OPEC “with solid bilateral cooperation”.
Venezuela and Algeria established diplomatic relations in March 1971 and since then, they have held four Joint Commissions and signed 44 cooperation instruments in energy, air transport, communication, science and technology, trade, agriculture, culture and tourism, among others.
