Venezuelan athletics delegation won six medals in the Lima Ibero-American Championship

The Venezuelan athletics delegation completed its participation in the Lima Ibero-American Senior Championship, held at the Estadio Atlético de la Videna, with a harvest of one gold medal, two silver and three bronze medals.
The men's 4x400 meter relay team made up of: Javier Gómez, Carlos Zambrano, Axel Gómez and Kelvis Padrino, won the most important victory for the national delegation in Peru, with a time of 3:02.88 that earned them the gold medal.
The silver medal went to the Puerto Rican quartet with a record of 3:03.19, while bronze went to the Dominican Republic with 3:03.45, according to a press release from the Ministry of Popular Power for Sports.
For its part, the mixed 4x100 relay consisting of Bryan Álamo, Orangys Jiménez, Alexis Nieves and Glanyernis Guerra won the bronze medal by stopping the stopwatch in 41.95 seconds.
The race was won by the Brazilian team with a record of 40.99, followed very closely by Argentina with 41.76.
In the individual events, Alexis Nieves took second place in the 200 meters flat with a time of 20.47 seconds, behind Puerto Rican José Figueroa with 20.21 and ahead of Dominican José González with 20.56.
In the same way, in the disc release, Ottaynis Febres won the silver medal with a record of 54.74 meters, above the Colombian Isabella Hitas with 50.35 m (bronze) and below the Brazilian Andressa Oliveira with a release of 59.68 m (gold).
Meanwhile, Kelvis Padrino added another bronze one on the 400 meters flat by stopping the clock at 45.61 seconds. The gold medal went to the Portuguese Omar Elkhatib 45.57 accompanied by the Argentinian Elian Larregina with 45.57.
Finally, Carlos Córdoba won the bronze medal in the decathlon after accumulating a total of 6,531 points, closing the Venezuelan participation against the dominance of the Brazilians, Felipe Dos Santos and Cantanhede Cerqueira, gold and silver medals with 7,684 and 7,031 points respectively.
