Venezuelan delegation ready for Pan-American Youth Weightlifting in Cuba

The Venezuelan delegation is ready to leave the national tricolor high, from March 11 to 14, at the Pan-American Youth Weightlifting Championship, to be held at the Manuel Suárez Fernández Gymnasium, in Havana, Cuba.

The Venezuelan team will fight for the places that will allow them to participate in the Youth Pan American Games in Asunción, Paraguay 2025.

The Pan American Championship marks the beginning of the regional weightlifting calendar, in a year full of important tournaments: the IWF World Youth & Junior Championships Lima 2025 and the Pan American Championship for Seniors in Cartagena, Colombia, in the month of July.

Liudys Farias, a member of the coaching staff that will attend the Pan-American championship, indicated that she has high expectations with the Venezuelan participation. “We are going with all the enthusiasm and work that the boys have done since January, together with the coaching staff and coaches, during their period of concentration at the IND facilities, expecting the best performance from each of them,” he said.

He indicated that the divisions in which the Asus 2025 Games will participate are not yet clear, so the team must participate in the new divisions presented by the International Weightlifting Federation for 2025.

Men take part in the classification of 60 kg, 65 kg, 71 kg, 79 kg, 88 kg, 98 kg, 110 kg and +110 kg and women of 48 kg, 53 kg, 58 kg, 63 kg, 69 kg, 77 kg, 86 kg and +86 kg.

In addition, the national team is made up of 8 women and 8 men for a total of 16 athletes, in the different divisions:
