The Minister of Popular Power for Ecosocialism, Josué Lorca, reported that the group of Venezuelan firefighters, who traveled last September 12 to fight forest fires in Bolivia, rescued 100 species of wildlife in the Andean country.

“The rescued animals were transferred to a safe haven,” he said, noting that Venezuelan firefighters faced six forest fires that affected 48,000 hectares of the Bolivian Amazon.

He explained that the work carried out included manual combat and the creation of lines of defense, which allowed the rescue of wildlife species. “Venezuela has been a pillar in the conservation of Pachamama, collaborating in the Alliance for the Protection of the Amazon,” he said.

“Venezuelan firefighters focused on the department of Santa Cruz, the region most affected by the fires, where more than seven million hectares have been devastated by fire so far this year, in Bolivia,” he said.

In that regard, Lorca extended his congratulations to the colleagues who, after 22 days of tireless struggle, arrived in Venezuela.

He reaffirmed that our country “despite the sanctions and the blockade, continues to bring peace and tranquility beyond its borders, contributing to the preservation of the planet and the peoples of the world”.
