Venezuelan women's field hockey team qualified for Central American and Caribbean Games

After defeating Bermuda 6-1 this Saturday, the Venezuelan women's field hockey team joined the men's team and qualified for the Central American and Caribbean Games (CAC) in Santo Domingo 2026.

Captain Patricia Mujica scored three goals in the regional qualifying tournament held in Guanajuato, Mexico, where Venezuela won its fourth straight win, after falling 4-0 on the first day against the host team.

On the way to his second participation in the history of the CAC Games, he crushed Panama 13-0 with a trio of goals from Yamileth Pargas and Valentina Luismar, respectively; he beat Guatemala 6-0 with Victoria Torres in a leading role and scored three goals; then he left Puerto Rico on the road 2-0 with goals from Yuami Navas and Mariannys González, according to a press release from the Ministry for Sports.

Venezuela finished the regular round with a 4-1 record with 27 goals in favor, 5 against and 12 points that guaranteed it one of the two places awarded by the Aztec qualifier and this Sunday it comes out for the gold in the rematch they will hold against Mexico.

For national women's field hockey, it will be the second participation in the CAC Games; its only time in this multi-sport event was in Maracaibo 1998, when it ranked sixth.
