The Vinotinto Women's Youth defeated Paraguay 2-1 in their first match of the soccer tournament at the IV South American Youth Games Panama 2026.
In the match that took place at the Luis Tejada High Performance Center, Vinotinto managed to keep the victory thanks to an Orliany Durán double in the 15th and 64th minute.
The discount was made by Natalia Miranda at 45', after an accurate shot that could not stop Vinotinto.
Regarding the result of the clash, Durán assured that the victory was the product of collective work. “We have a lot to prove and much more to give. We are going little by little, adapting to the climate and we are going to get the results,” he added, a press release from the Ministry of Sport.
Durán stressed that after the 1-1 draw the team remained calm and a good attitude that was why the victory was achieved. “We are going to correct mistakes and do better against Panama,” he added.
For her part, Dayana Frías, coach of the national team, asserted that this group is in a process of training and adding experience to overcome nervousness in the best way.
“A thousand things happen, because the margin of error is so high. There were situations during the game that they were able to solve and that speaks to their tactical maturity,” explained the technical director.
The second game of the national team that is part of group A will be this Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. against the host team from Panama.
The South American Youth Games are a multidisciplinary sporting event with athletes from 14 to 17 years old from the region.
