Fernando 'Bocha' Batista, technical director of the Venezuelan senior team, announced that Vinotinto will concentrate for 10 days in Bogotá, as part of the preparation for the next double round of the World Cup qualifiers, where the eleventh Venezuelan will visit Ecuador on the 21st of this month and four days later she will host Peru.
“We are going to meet 10 days earlier in Bogotá because we are almost at the same height (as Quito)... A lot of the players are going to come first, because we're lucky that some of them aren't going to be competing... We have one more day because we play on Friday 21st, so we're leaving (Bogotá) on Thursday 20th,” said the coach.
The Colombian capital is 2,640 meters above sea level (meters above sea level), while Quito is 2,850 meters above sea level. In that sense, the Vinotinto strategist hopes that being in Bogotá will help them prepare not only to face the southern nation but then Peru, in what he describes as another final.
“According to that, we will see the team we can put together to play against Ecuador (...) Hopefully those 10 days can acclimate us to the game,” he said.
He stressed that for the rally, which starts next week, they will not be able to count on several players who have commitments to their clubs.
