The World Health Organization (WHO) urged governments and partners to address efforts to eradicate viral hepatitis, which represents a serious threat to public health.

In this regard, the WHO noted that every 30 seconds, a person dies from liver disease.

He specified that hepatitis viruses of types A, B, C, D and E are the causes of acute liver infections. Types B, C, and D cause chronic infections and an increased risk of liver cirrhosis, liver failure, and liver cancer.

According to WHO data, more than 300 million people are living with hepatitis B, C or D, and the infection causes more than 1.3 million deaths a year.
