The Venezuelan women's softball team confirmed their qualification for the World Cup of the discipline that will be played next year in the cities of Oklahoma City (USA), Lima (Peru) and Prague (Czech Republic), after beating their Brazilian counterpart 2-1, on the final day of the Pan-American Championship held in Montería, Colombia.

The Criollas opened the scoring at the José Gabriel Amin Manzur stadium in the bottom of the third inning with a career run by Bailey Olerich, who scored a single and then moved to second thanks to a hit by Elia Infante, stealing third base and reaching the rubber with a sacrifice lift from Dayerlin Rivas.

The player Yalianni Alvarado extended the advantage for the squad led by María Soto in the fifth inning , again with a high sacrifice after a replacement by her teammate Yulexys Barrios, who started the episode with an easy move to the second with a touch of sacrifice and an error from the Amazonian defense.

As far as the ball is concerned, the victory was credited to pitcher Rachael Schumann with a 2.1-thirds job in which she struck out a rival and supported the work of starter Francia Linares. The shotgun had an outstanding performance of 4.2 innings in which he received seven uncatchables, a dirty line, gave a ball awarded and scored two strikeouts.

With this victory, Venezuela joins Canada, Puerto Rico, Cuba and Mexico as the representatives of American women's softball in the World Cup. In addition, this achievement is added to the Creole classification for the Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo 2026 and the Pan American Games in Lima 2027.
