Nearly 90,000 women and children require urgent assistance in the Gaza Strip, reported the World Food Program (WFP) of the United Nations (UN).
In a statement, WFP warned of the spread of hunger in the coastal enclave, as a result of the Israeli blockade maintained for months.
The Organization noted that deteriorating security, access restrictions and the desperation of communities hinder the entry of humanitarian aid.
Since the resumption of the Israeli military offensive on March 18, more than 700,000 people have been displaced. Currently, 85% of the territory is under military operations, the institution said.
According to what was published by the Prensa Latina web portal, the WFP stated that the food delivered so far represents a small part of what is required. He reiterated that he is prepared to expand assistance should a ceasefire be established, with personnel deployed and systems tested to serve on a large scale.
For its part, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) accused Israel of using hunger as a method of war and insisted on lifting the siege.
