The foreign minister, Yván Gil, recalled that eight years ago the Venezuelan people, through the vote, decided that it would be Nicolás Madura who would take the reins of the country.

Through his Telegram account, Gil wrote that “Eight years ago, the Venezuelan people placed their vote and trust in President Nicolás Maduro Moros, who assumed a second six-year term with the commitment to leading the Bolivarian project and representing the will of the people in the midst of the significant adversities facing our nation, subject to economic blockades and attempts at destabilization.”

He also noted that “President Maduro not only guided the country in the midst of sanctions, but he also managed to maintain peace and open a new era of reunion, dialogue and reinvention, focusing on the recovery of the economy.”
