The Simon Bolivar satellite was the first artificial satellite that Venezuela launched into orbit in outer space on October 29, 2008 from China.

According to information provided by the magazine Tricolor, the Simon Bolivar satellite, Venesat-1 , was launched inside a rocket called Long March 3B that took off from the Xichang Space Center, in the Asian country.

He spent almost 12 years in space and his mission was to provide telephone and internet services to Venezuela and other countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. This wonderful telecommunications project communicated, free of charge, and securely to thousands of people from areas historically excluded from these services.

Venezuela is currently working on the development of a new telecommunications satellite, which will bear the name of Guaicaipura, one of the most famous indigenous warriors in Los Teques. This satellite will have more capacity than Venesat-1, allowing it to offer better quality and greater quantity of services to the Venezuelan people.

In addition, it is worth remembering that our country has two satellites plus Sucre, which complements the information provided by Miranda for the evaluation of crop status, planting control, production processes and disaster prevention.

All of this has been possible thanks to the revolutionary vision of Commander Chávez and that continues President Nicolás Maduro.
