Around 50 patients will be evacuated from Gaza tomorrow through the Rafah border crossing, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced.
This will be the first medical evacuation since the ceasefire began, and the first through Rafah since its closure in May 2024, details information published on the web portal of the United Nations (UN).
Between 12,000 and 14,000 people, 2,500 of them children, are waiting for urgent specialized medical care outside of Gaza.
Dr. Rik Peeperkorn, WHO representative for the West Bank and Gaza, said that at the current rate it would take “years” to evacuate all patients and called for the return to functioning of the routes that were used before the war.
