The director of the National Chamber of Electronic Commerce, Eliazar Colmenares, stated that 96% of commercial transactions in Venezuela are carried out digitally, a fact that confirms the country's transition to electronic payment mechanisms and new consumer dynamics.
“96% of payments are digital, which represents a significant advance for the economy,” he said.
Colmenares, as reported by the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN), explained that this process responds to the expansion of digital commerce and the growing weight of the economy on platforms. He noted that there are activities that are not reflected in traditional Gross Domestic Product (GDP) indicators, despite their real impact.
In addition, the leader indicated that the home delivery sector mobilizes more than 250,000 motorized vehicles and exceeds 10 billion dollars a year in operations.
“There are people who use technology and are not registered in macroeconomic indicators. The task is to incorporate them into the formal economy and generate tools for their development,” he added.
He also stressed that the use of instruments such as mobile payment continues to grow. In 2025, more than 6,000 transactions were recorded per minute and 42% of payments were made this way. He added that only 1.5% of the economic movement is made in cash, mainly in the transport sector.
He also highlighted that optical fiber registered a growth of more than 300% in the last year. He also highlighted that between 3 and 3.5 million entrepreneurs operate in formal and semiformal environments.
