Authorities banned access to rivers and resorts in the southern part of the Portuguese state, as a preventive measure in the face of the rains recorded in the upper area and in neighboring Trujillo.

Civil Protection (PC) informed the seasonal workers and the community in general that the current hydrometeorological conditions make it necessary to suspend access to the main bodies of water in the municipalities of Unda, Sucre, Guanare, Papelón and Guanarito.

The agency, as reported by the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN), indicated that staying in the Morador and Acarigua rivers, in the municipalities of Ospino and Araure, respectively, is also prohibited, although their flows have not been affected by sudden floods, due to rainfall at the headwaters of the rivers.

PC explained that a flood at medium levels is interacting with low Colombian pressure, generating heavy to moderate rains in several areas of Venezuela, including the state of Portuguesa, Barinas and Trujillo.
