Venezuela made official this Thursday the inclusion of Ronald Acuña Jr., Maikel García, Jackson Chourio and Wilyer Abreu as key players on its roster for the 2026 World Baseball Classic, which will be held from March 5 to 11 at LoanDepot Park in Miami, United States.

These talents will be part of the team that will be captained by receiver Salvador Pérez, an outstanding leader and stronghold of the Venezuelan team, who will participate in their fourth Classic after having played in every tournament since 2013.

The national ninth is part of group D of the contest along with the Dominican Republic, Israel, the Netherlands and Nicaragua, and will open action on March 6 against the Netherlands at 8:00 p.m.

In the 2023 World Baseball Classic, the tricolor did an excellent job and made it to the quarterfinals, where it fell 9‑7 to the United States.

Venezuela will play two training games in West Palm Beach (Florida) next March in preparation for the tournament: on the 3rd against the Houston Astros and on the 4th against the Washington Nationals.

With this group of references, Venezuela will seek to surpass its 2023 performance and advance beyond the quarterfinal round, in an extremely competitive way.
