The president of the Venezuelan Corporation of Guiana (CVG), Héctor Silva, and the governor of the state of Amazonas, Miguel Rodríguez, signed an agreement to start plantations in San Fernando de Atabapo and reactivate latex production. The information was released by the representative of the CVG through a post on his social networks.

In this regard, Silva stressed that this effort is designed to obtain raw materials destined for multiple industrial uses, with minimal environmental impact. He stressed that, through these initiatives, the CVG reinforces its commitment to the preservation and strengthening of the biodiversity and ecosystems of the world's great lung, with the promotion of sustainable and environmentally friendly practices.

For his part, the governor said that “we have taken a very important step for the development of the Amazon. We signed the agreement together with brother Héctor Silva, president of the CVG, in which the rubber plantations of Atabapo are handed over to the governor.”

He added that a new phase is beginning to turn the historic capital of Amazonas back into a latex producer. It should be noted that the firm is part of the “New Amazon State Economic and Social Development Plan 2021-2025", which aims to turn the state into a national reference for political, economic and social management, through the development of the capacities and potentialities of its productive forces in all economic, commercial and financial activities, from a vision of environmentally sustainable development, to achieve good living and raising the quality of life of the Amazonian people, with a projection towards future generations.
