The
Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America -
Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) reaffirmed on Monday its commitment to true peace in the Gaza
Strip, which “will only be possible when all forms of occupation cease and the historic and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people are
restored, fully and unconditionally.”
In a
statement, the regional integration bloc called on “the
international community to maintain diplomatic and political efforts aimed at
guaranteeing the right of the Palestinian people to have an
independent and sovereign State within the pre-1967 borders, with East
Jerusalem as its capital, on the basis of the two-State solution”.

The
Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our
America-Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) is following closely the progress made in
negotiations between the Palestinian authorities, the Hamas movement and the
government of Israel, with the mediation of various countries in the region. In this
context, it reaffirms that true peace will only be possible when all
forms of occupation cease and the
historic and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people are restored, fully and unconditionally.
The ALBA-TCP
denounces that the genocide perpetrated in Gaza constitutes one of the most
serious and shameful crimes in contemporary history. Those responsible for such
acts must be held accountable to international justice, since no
sustainable peace can be built on impunity or on the denial of the right to self-determination.
The Alliance
recognizes the decisive role of mobilization at the international level, of Arab and Muslim
States, and of the peoples of the South who, with dignity and
perseverance, have supported the Palestinian cause. In that regard, it calls on the international
community to maintain diplomatic and political
efforts aimed at guaranteeing the right of the Palestinian people to have an
independent and sovereign State within the pre-1967 borders, with East
Jerusalem as its capital, on the basis of the two-State solution.
Faithful to its founding
principles of independence, justice and peace, the ALBA-TCP reiterates
its firm and permanent solidarity with the Palestinian people, and its decision
to accompany, in all multilateral spaces, the struggle for a just, lasting and truly humane peace.
