President Delcy Rodríguez delivers Protected Geographical Indication to Portuguese coffee farming

The president, Delcy Rodríguez, led this Tuesday the award of the Protected Geographic Indication (PGI) certification to the leading producer Belkis Castañeda, a recognition that guarantees the very high quality of the grain cultivated between the Lara and Portuguesa states during a productive meeting held in the municipality of Ospino with more than 9,000 coffee farmers in the Llanera region.

The conference, held at the facilities of the El Cafetal Direct Community Production Company together with the Minister of Popular Power for Defense, Vladimir Padrino López, served to confirm the consolidation of the nation as a self-sustainable agricultural power.

During the activity, the head of state praised the efforts of the peasant sector and highlighted the operational capacity of communal circuits to position the Venezuelan exportable supply in the international markets of the United States and Italy.

For her part, production spokeswoman Belkis Castañeda highlighted the impact of the coordination between the National Executive and the bases of Popular Power to guarantee logistics in the field and the production of specialty crops.

“In the communal plan, fuel has arrived in good time to support us in the production of quality coffee thanks to the Government and organized communes; producers in Venezuela can produce specialty coffee. We need a soil laboratory in the communal coffee plan, it's very important for us to know what formula we should apply,” Castañeda emphasized.

With this organizational achievement, the Bolivarian Government reaffirms its commitment to continue promoting investment in agricultural technology, the delivery of strategic inputs and the strengthening of the communal economic model to strengthen the Homeland's food sovereignty.
