ALBA-TCP condemns “senseless and disproportionate” US attack on Venezuelan fishing vessel

The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America - Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) condemned this Sunday “the senseless and disproportionate” assault of the Venezuelan fishing vessel Carmen Rosa at sea in Venezuela's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).

In a statement, the bloc noted that this fact “constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and a direct threat to peace and security in Latin America and the Caribbean.”

ALBA-TCP CONDEMNS THE DISPROPORTIONATE AND SENSELESS ACT OF AGGRESSION BY THE UNITED STATES IN THE VENEZUELAN MARITIME ZONE

The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) expresses its deep concern about the senseless act of aggression, perpetrated last Friday, September 12, by the United States Navy destroyer USS Jason Dunham (DDG-109) against the Venezuelan fishing vessel "Carmen Rosa “, manned by nine tuna fishermen from the Caribbean, who were carrying out an authorized task in the middle of the Economic Zone Exclusive (ZEE) of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

The ALBA-TCP condemns this irresponsible and provocative act, which constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and threatens peace, security and stability in our region.

The Bolivarian Alliance requires unrestricted compliance with International Law enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations and full respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic. Bolivarian of Venezuela.

The member countries of ALBA-TCP reaffirm their unwavering commitment to ensure that the Latin American and Caribbean region remains a zone of peace and demand that the United States immediately refrain from carrying out activities that endanger the peace and security of our region.
