After the day for the election of the President of the Republic of Ecuador last Sunday, April 13, 2025, the member countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA-TCP) are following with attention and great concern the development of events, in particular, the numerous irregularities that affected the outcome of the elections in Ecuador and the consequent accusations of fraud in that process, an unprecedented fact in this country.

The elections were held under a state of emergency, declared 24 hours before the elections, which prevailed precisely in the provinces where the Ecuadorian opposition has maintained historic popular support. The intimidating military presence at polling stations and polling stations was evident and spread across the country. Some international observers and observers said they felt pressured by official authorities.

In the midst of this repressive climate, days and hours before the election, arbitrary arrests were registered, accompanied by open persecution of leaders of the Ecuadorian opposition. To make the environment even worse, the government hired the services of a well-known American mercenary and his team, an expert in military and psychological violence, in order to further intimidate the electorate.

International observers officially reported that the electoral contest took place under conditions of inequity, with the misuse of State institutions and resources, with last-minute rule changes in crucial organizational aspects, leading to Executive Secretary or mistrust and uncertainty in the electoral process.

Opinion studies prior to the election, as well as most of the exit polls conducted during the day, foresaw a close contest and predicted a possible victory for the candidate Luisa González, of the Citizens' Revolution, which was surprisingly not reflected in the official results presented, which, on the contrary, seem unsustainable.

The events that occurred are so serious that the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America expresses its firm complaint to the peoples of the world and the international community about what happened in the electoral process in Ecuador.
