The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples' Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) issued a statement in which it categorically rejects the arrest warrant issued by the Argentine federal judge, Ariel Lijo, against the constitutional president of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo.

The ALBA TPC countries considered this action a violation of sovereignty and the principles of international law and expressed concern about what they consider to be illegal interference in Nicaragua's internal affairs.

For the ALBA-TCP, this decision by the Argentine judiciary to request an arrest warrant against Daniel Ortega adds to a worrying pattern in which orders are issued against legitimately elected governments under the pretext of the principle of universal jurisdiction. This phenomenon was previously observed in the case of Venezuela, another member country of ALBA-TCP.
