The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America - Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) rejected on Monday the resolution of the Organization of American States (OAS) on the internal decisions of the people of Venezuela, regarding the elections of last July 28.
In a statement, the
regional bloc recalled that Venezuela is not part of the OAS, accused of serving
the interests of the U.S. Administration.

The
member states of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America - Peoples' Trade
Agreement (ALBA-TCP) reject the spurious and
interventionist resolution of the OAS on internal affairs of Venezuela, this Friday, August 16, 2024.
This
inappropriate resolution, mainly promoted by the United States, represents another open
interference in Venezuela's internal affairs and confirms, once
again, the servile role of the OAS before Washington to promote coup plans,
ignoring the institutions of the Venezuelan State to solve its issues.
The ALBA-TCP
reminds some governments in the region that the Bolivarian Republic of
Venezuela has not been a member of the OAS since 2019 and that, as a result, that
organization lacks any power to deal with issues related to
Venezuela and, much less, to meddle so tendentiously in their national affairs.
Venezuela is a sovereign, free and independent
nation, whose wise people have been characterized
by their deep democratic and peaceful vocation, even developing a
model of popular democracy unique in the world: participatory and leading democracy.
The
ALBA-TCP demands respect for the sovereign will of the Venezuelan people and the sovereign functioning
of its institutions and calls on the OAS to deal with its own
affairs and with the social, economic and governance crises suffered by
several of its member states, especially in the United States of America.
