The Member States of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America - Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) categorically repudiate the approval of a bill in the House of Representatives of the United States, on November 18, 2024, which seeks to tighten the criminal and illegal economic blockade against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and which they have abused to call the Bolivar Law.
This project of infamous objectives, an example of grotesque interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign State, seeks to harm, once again, the well-being of millions of Venezuelans, in particular the most vulnerable population, intensifying the impact of unilateral coercive measures.
It seeks to hinder the country's economic recovery and prevent the relationship and economic cooperation of Venezuela, in addition to the more than 930 unilateral and extraterritorial coercive measures that are already being applied against the Venezuelan people.
In addition, this bill represents a gross and clearly premeditated offense, which seeks to tarnish the name of the Liberator Simon Bolivar, a fundamental and historic figure of Latin American independence, who gave his entire life to the freedom and happiness of the peoples of the South and who was profoundly anti-imperialist.
The Bolivarian Alliance demands respect for the Charter of the United Nations and the norms of International Law, as well as for the will of free, independent and sovereign peoples, proud of the emancipatory efforts of their independence leaders and warned, more than 200 years ago by Simon Bolivar himself, that the United States would seek to “plague America with misery in the name of freedom”.
The ALBA-TCP calls on the sister nations of Latin America and the Caribbean and the international community as a whole, to condemn this illegal act that violates national sovereignty, which will be a new failure of imperial pretensions to subdue the brotherly Bolivarian people and their legitimate government.
