Alberto Fernández resigns from the Justicialist Party amid controversy over gender-based violence

This Wednesday, as part of the complaint for alleged gender-based violence against Fabiola Yáñez, the former president of Argentina, Alberto Fernández resigned from the Justicialist Party (PJ), the electoral arm of Peronism.
In a statement, Fernández stated that he is definitely leaving the position of leader of the party, while rejecting the accusations of the former first lady about the alleged acts of violence.
“I have the duty and the need to state that this decision was made for the sole purpose of not involving the party in which I always militated in the facts that were false,” Fernández said.
