In an ongoing effort to consolidate Guaicaipura as a Capital City, Mayor Farith Fraija officially inaugurated the new Independence Terminal.
This strategic project, located on Independencia Avenue (adjacent to the Redoma de La Matica) in Los Teques, represents a comprehensive solution for urban mobility and the reorganization of commerce in the area.
The project envisaged a total intervention of 800.51 square meters, transforming a space that was previously occupied by informal commerce into a modern, safe and functional infrastructure for the inhabitants of Los Teques.
During the award ceremony, Fraija stressed that this work not only improves traffic, but also dignifies the lives of citizens. “We are moving steadily forward in the construction and consolidation of public policies that will lead us to the city that we all deserve. With the inauguration of the Independence Terminal, we are providing first-class infrastructure for our urban routes, eliminating traffic chaos and offering decent spaces for both carriers and users and small merchants who now live here in an organized way in nine kiosks arranged within the area.”
Fraija emphasized that the terminal is designed under a concept of universal accessibility, allowing people with reduced mobility to travel without barriers thanks to the rehabilitation of the walkway and the elimination of stairs.
“This is a work done with love and efficiency for our people. We continue working to make Guaicaipura an example of management and modernity,” concluded Mayor Fraija.
The execution of the project included a series of structural improvements and services that guarantee its 24-hour operation:
- Transportation Infrastructure: Construction of the “Independence I” Stop with capacity for five simultaneous bus units, in addition to the adaptation of specific spaces for motorcycle taxi lines.
- Commerce and Services: Construction of nine commercial premises and a modern public bathroom module with changing tables for babies.
- Security: Installation of a comprehensive system of five security cameras and two emergency buttons connected to SOS Guaicaipura.
- Roads and Ornaments: Installation of 150 tons of asphalt, road demarcation, state-of-the-art LED lighting system and the construction of three large planters.
- Sustainability: Installation of a water tank with a capacity of 22,000 liters to guarantee service in the facilities.
The work also included the rehabilitation of the sector's walkway, with the inclusion of almost 90 meters of access ramps and new lighting, ensuring safe passage for pedestrians connecting to the La Redoma de La Matica area.
