The film “First Ali”, directed by filmmaker Daniel Yegres, won the award for Best Fiction Feature Film at the fourth edition of the Portuguese Film Festival “Espiga Fest 2026". The award consolidates the film's trajectory on the international film circuit, reported the Telesur portal.

The event, held from March 26 to 29 in the Portuguese state, served as a meeting space for national and international creators dedicated to independent cinema and new narratives. The jury awarded the highest recognition to this work, which pays homage to the life of the emblematic Venezuelan singer-songwriter, a reference in social struggles in Latin America.

The film is a production of HUMANA CINE and constitutes the first cinematographic work of the Great Living Venezuela Mission, My Beloved Homeland. This government initiative seeks to promote Venezuelan culture through diverse artistic expressions.

The feature film has toured multiple global festivals, winning awards for its artistic proposition, historical value and cultural impact. The recognition at the Espiga Fest reaffirms the relevance of the piece in recent Venezuelan cinematography and its contribution to Latin American memory and identity.
